Jewellery care
JEWELLERY CARE
Our jewels are designed to be timeless - made to be worn and enjoyed. Hard gemstones such as diamonds, sapphires and rubies resist scratches and endure everyday wear. Softer stones like emeralds, topaz, tourmaline, peridot will scratch more easily, so handling them with care is essential to keep them looking their best.
STORING YOUR JEWELS
It’s important to store your jewels in individual boxes or soft pouches to prevent scratching. When traveling, pack each piece separately to avoid damage. Delicate chains can easily tangle, even when kept apart, so it’s best to close necklaces and bracelets and store them in their original boxes.
SLEEPING WITH YOUR JEWELS
Let your jewels rest while you do. Removing them before sleep protects delicate settings and keeps your pieces beautiful for years to come.
JEWELS AND COSMETICS
Many INNAN jewels feature intricate textures. Avoid applying creams while wearing your jewellery, as they can leave marks and collect between stones, settings and detailed surfaces. Over time, beauty products may dull both metal and gemstones. We recommend applying cosmetics, perfume and hair products before putting on your jewels to preserve their natural shine.
PUTTING ON AND REMOVING JEWELRY
Be mindful of hard surfaces such as bathroom ceramics or stone floors, as jewellery that falls on hard surfaces can easily be damaged, especially pieces with delicate gemstones. We also recommend removing your jewels before practical activities like exercise, cleaning, gardening or creative work such as painting or ceramics. This helps protect them from impact, chemicals, and chlorine, all of which can harm both metal and gemstones.
IN THE SHOWER
In general, fine jewellery does not need to be removed before showering. However, avoid wearing oxidized pieces (such as blackened silver), as soap can alter their surface. Jewellery and soap don’t mix well - residues tend to accumulate between stones and settings, so we recommend rinsing your pieces carefully after contact with any soap.
CLEANING YOUR JEWELS
Cleaning gold or gemstone jewellery is quick and simple. Place your piece in a small bowl of warm water with a few drops of mild soap and let it soak for a few minutes to loosen any dust or residue. For a deeper clean, use an extra-soft toothbrush to gently brush the surface. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
Oxidised silver pieces will gradually lose their blackened patina when washed, so avoid contact with water to preserve their look.
Silver jewellery may naturally oxidise over time, but this can easily be restored using a high-quality silver polish. Apply it with a soft cloth, then rinse the piece with water and dry it carefully. Gold jewellery can be polished in the same way using a suitable gold polish.
